NU’EST dozed, snored, and then even stretched out their arms as if just waking up from a good sleep. And that too all while on stage. But it was all for none other than their new song “Sleep Talking,” the title track for their third mini-album of the same name, which they performed for fans for the first time at their comeback showcase held in Seoul on Thursday.

The five-member boy band had mostly been serious and masculine in front of fans: they made their debut with “FACE” about bullying in schools, earning them the nickname of ‘spokesmen of teenagers’; then raised their voices on nonconformity through “Action” from their first mini-album; and of a woman who might be in a relationship with another man in “Hello” from their second mini-album.

However, they set aside all and went for a cute and playful image to sing about a boy who has a crush on a girl but only expresses his feelings while talking in his sleep.

After unveiling the full version of the music video and performance to “Sleep Walking,” NU’EST took part in a press conference to disclose more details on their new release.

Ren started by thanking fans that waited for them and also expressed his anxiety by confessing that he wasn’t able to sleep the previous night.

The group’s leader JR said he had much affection for the album because he participated in producing the rap for three songs.

The group then explained that hit K-pop songwriter Double Kick, who wrote SISTAR’s smash hit tune “Give It To Me,” composed “Sleep Walking.”

Member Baekho then revealed that he is a sleep talker himself, that will talk nonsense. “For example, when another member wakes me up because we have a schedule, I’ll tell him it got delayed or cancelled.”

When NU’EST were asked what they would do if the group’s name and “Sleep Walking” become the top trending search words on the Internet, they responded that they will perform the tune in their pajamas. But Baekho bashfully revealed that he goes to bed in just his underwear so that he would have to find something for the performance.

JR chose the Tokyo Dome as their dream concert venue. Although they performed at the dome soon after their debut, they shared a stage with other artists at the time, so he said he hopes NU’EST will hold their own concert there some day.
