The agencies of boy band SHINee member Jonghyun and actress Lee Yu-bi have stepped forward to deny rumor of their more-than-friends relationship.
Local media outlet Sports Seoul reported early on Wednesday that the two “went from being friends to lovers at the end of last year” but SHINee’s agency SM Entertainment and Lee’s agency Sidus HQ stated such talk is “groundless.”
The article also explained that the two became acquainted through Davichi member Kang Min-kyung — Kang and Lee worked on sitcom “Vampire Idol” together — and with all three being of the same age, hung out together often.
However, an official with Lee’s agency Sidus HQ told TenAsia over the phone, “After checking with Lee herself, it turns out they are close friends but not dating.”
Kang’s agency Core Contents Media issued a statement as well, saying that Kang is “perplexed with how such false talk came about.”
Jonghyun, the main vocalist of his popular K-pop act which debuted in 2008, is set to host his own radio show starting next week.
Lee, who made her debut in 2011 and has since appeared in a couple of popular dramas including “The Innocent Man” and “Kang Chi, the Beginning,” will host SBS’s weekly music show “Inkigayo” starting this coming weekend.
