On June 2, Billborad introduced Taeyang that he incorporates dance, hip-hop, gospel and more on his second full-length album ‘Rise.’.
Also Billboard commented that Taeyang made showed adult R&B sound and simplistic MV of “Eyes, Nose, Lips” without all flashy elements. He showed a similar move with John Legond who was ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 for the three weeks by touching a string in audience’s heart as performing “All Of Me” at the 2014 GRAMMYs earlier this year.
Billboard added “Spending the first verse and chorus accompanied by just a piano, Taeyang doles out reflective regrets of the way he treated a past love while recalling her features like her eyes, nose, fingernails and red lips. As the 26-year-old accepts his shortcomings, the song’s production grows more intricate with hollow percussion, snappy snares and classical violins.”
Billboard also mentioned about MV of “Eyes, Nose, Lips.” They analyzed this MV in detail, saying “The video stays simple throughout, focusing on Taeyang’s emotional delivery, but adds some pryotechnics by way of a billboard with a woman’s face is set on fire before the intense bridge and final chorus.”
Billboard expected new Taeyang with this new album that “While these singles show off both his EDM, hip-hop and contemporary R&B tendencies, the “Rise” tracks show off more of Taeyang’s musical sides.”
Meanwhile, Taeyang’s title track “Eyes, Nose, Lips” took over the top in total 10 of music charts including Melon, M.net, Bucks, Sori Bada, Daum, Naver, Genie, Olleh Music and others, showing off his poularity.
His album is also gaining a huge popularity from abroad as ranked number one on R&B/SOUL Album chart in England, Canada, Australia, and Newzland and on local iTunes album chart in total of ten countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and others.
