SBS‘s new variety program, The Fan, will be airing its first episode on November 24.
The Fan is a fandom survival program that will feature soon-to-be stars whose potential is first recognized by celebrities. It will be up to the public to judge the star quality of the rookie stars and determine the winner of the show.
The show garnered quite a bit of attention previously after news got out that top musician Yoo Hee-yeol, Hallyu star BoA, prominent 90s record producer Lee Sang-min, and popular lyricist Kim Eana had agreed to join the program. The four stars will act as “fan masters” who will unearth the appeal and star quality of the rookies. Instead of selecting the final winner of the show, they will be helping the viewers to decide who to vote for.
The Fan, which recently wrapped up its first shoot, will be unveiling itself to the public through teasers that are scheduled to come out on the 20th. There are expectations that the performances from the talented contestants and the contributions from the celebrity “fan masters” will give rise to a music entertainment program unlike one that has ever been seen before.
The Fan is being created and directed by producers Park Sung-hoon (K-Pop Star) and Kim Young-wook (Fantastic Duo). There are plans for the show to work alongside Banijay International – the French production and distribution company who helped to successfully launch Fantastic Duo in Europe – to release the show globally.
