Jimin, Yuna, Hyejeong, Seolhyun, and Chanmi from the K-pop girl group AOA have renewed their contracts with FNC Entertainment.
FNC announced that they recently renewed their contracts with five of the AOA members: Jimin, Yuna, Hyejeong, Seolhyun, and Chanmi.
The five members of AOA decided to stay together as a group and renew their contracts for their fans who have always rooted for them. FNC, who has worked with AOA over the years with a foundation of mutual trust and faith, plans to provide the five members with complete support so that they will be able to actively engage in promotions.
After discussing things at length with the other members and the label, Mina, who has been with the group for the past 7 years, has decided to go down her own path in order to pursue new dreams. Out of respect for her decision, FNC decided to terminate their contract with Mina and announced her departure from the group.
Since their debut in 2012, AOA has released a large number of hit songs while growing into an idol group that possesses both solid skills and popular appeal. They had a successful comeback last year, in particular, when they released the single, “Bingle Bangle,” which swept domestic charts and topped the iTunes album sales chart in 13 countries. AOA showed that they could still dominate the charts even after being on hiatus for a year and five months, and they laid the foundation for becoming a group that will be around for many years to come.
Now that they’ve completed the contract renewal process, AOA plans on promoting more actively in Korea. In addition to steadily making and promoting music for their fans, the group also intends to actively consider the offers that continuously come for AOA from overseas. FNC also plans to provide support in a multitude of ways so that each member can try their hand at a different field that would speak to their unique strengths, whether that be in films, TV dramas, variety TV, or content creation.
