BLACKPINK revealed behind-the-scenes footage of the group being joined by Dua Lipa on stage for their concert in Newark, New Jersey.
YG Entertainment uploaded the 10th episode of the “BLACKPINK DIARIES” on their official blog on the morning of May 23. The episode captured backstage moments from their North American tour.
Jisoo stepped up to communicate with the fans by taking a video of herself before going on stage. She talked about the atmosphere at the concert by sharing how her friend who was in the audience said that “the vibes are already heated.” Jisoo also expressed her determination to “smash the stage again” and “tear up the stage” while talking to Lisa, who was also backstage. The following footage showed the girls during the concert dominating the stage with a powerful performance. The North American fans responded to the exciting and energetic performance with enthusiastic screams and cheers.
A surprise female guest made an appearance at the Prudential Center where the Newark concert was being held. British singer and songwriter Dua Lipa, who won Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards this year, went to the venue to rehearse for the performance of “Kiss and Make Up.” “A friend of mine told me BLACKPINK were performing in Newark and that we should go, and I was like, ‘Maybe I should do ‘Kiss and Make Up’ with them,’” explained Dua about how the performance came about.
When Dua and the members of BLACKPINK met at the venue during rehearsals, the girls immediately hugged each other excitedly and asked one another how they were doing. As soon as Dua expressed how happy she was to share the stage with BLACKPINK, the girls of BLACKPINK talked about how they “couldn’t believe it” when they heard they would be performing with Dua.
BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa gifted the Newark audience with unforgettable memories through their successful joint performance.
After the performance, Dua showered BLACKPINK with praises for their limitless potential by saying that the group was “so talented and so beautiful” and that she couldn’t “wait to see what the world [had] in store for [them].”
