Chungha’s new album has been receiving an enthusiastic response overseas.
As of June 25, Chungha’s fourth EP Flourishing, which was released at 6 p.m. on June 24, has topped the iTunes albums charts in a total of 6 countries, including the US and Hong Kong.
The EP has made a strong showing in other countries as well. It currently sits at No. 2 on the charts in Taiwan and Thailand; No. 3 in The Philippines, Indonesia, and Sweden; No. 4 in Poland; and No. 5 in Russia.
When it comes to the worldwide iTunes K-pop charts, Chungha’s newest EP is currently at No. 1 in a total of 10 countries, which includes the US, Germany, and France; No. 2 in Australia, and No. 3 in Indonesia. In Hong Kong, the album has topped both the pop chart and the all-genre chart.
Themed around change and growth, Flourishing is an album that expresses the various emotions that exist within Chungha.
The title track, “Snapping,” is about shaking off a worn out heart after a breakup and looking ahead to new beginnings. The song features a sound that has more flash and depth than any of Chunga’s previous singles, a highly addictive beat, groovy introduction, and a dynamic arrangement within which the song seems to expand as it nears the chorus.
On June 25, “Snapping” also topped a number of the realtime charts on domestic music sites, such as Bugs, Genie, Olleh Music, Soribada, Mnet and Naver; while coming in at No. 2 on Melon.
Chungha is scheduled to dive into her promotional activities shortly by appearing on music programs.
