A fan club in China held a larger-than-life light show using 34 buildings for BTS’s Jimin.
On October 13 at 7:30 p.m., Jimin’s Chinese fan club, JIMIN BAR CHINA, put on a light show at Qianjiang New City in Hangzhou to celebrate the K-pop idol’s 25th birthday.
The exterior of 34 buildings in Qianjiang New City were utilized as screens for the large-scale event, garnering the attention of the group’s fans. A total of 700,000 LED lights installed on the outdoor screens were used, covering an area of 532,600 square meters and a length of 2.3 kilometers.
Pictures of Jimin, his name in Chinese, “19951013” for his birth date, and phrases such as “My singer” written in Chinese were mixed in along with the flashy lights, creating a thrilling experience for the fans.
Qianjiang New City was the site of the G20 summit in 2016. Prior to the event, Jimin’s fans announced that they would be organizing a project to “light up the city just for [Jimin]” in celebration of his birthday.
“This is the first time a birthday ad for a Korean celebrity has been run in Qianjiang New City instead of a corporate ad,” revealed a source from JIMIN BAR CHINA.
BTS fans who saw videos of the light show on social media called the event “unbelievable,” and also left comments such as “Jimin will never forget this” and “China is on a different scale.”
JIMIN BAR CHINA has previously organized various other projects in places all around the world for Jimin’s birthday. Last year, the fan club shocked fans by spending billions of won to run 18 ad events in China, the Netherlands, Japan, UK, and Taiwan.
Meanwhile, fans of Jimin have announced they will be calling the month of October, “JIMTOBER,” and will be holding a variety of events for fans all over the world to celebrate their favorite idol’s birthday throughout the month.
