BIGBANG’s G-Dragon was officially discharged from the military today.

G-Dragon was discharged at the South Korean Army’s Ground Operations Command in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province after completing his active military service. Despite the early morning hours of his discharge, the area was surrounded by thousands of fans who had gathered to see the idol star. In addition to Korean fans, there was also a significant number of fans from Japan, China, and Hong Kong.

“I’ve returned after completing my military service. Thank you for waiting for me. I will return to my original occupation and give it my all,” said G-Dragon to his fans.

Although G-Dragon was initially scheduled to be discharged from the 3rd Infantry Division in Cherwon, Gangwon Province where he served, the location was changed due to the African swine fever virus (ASF) being detected in the area.

G-Dragon made his debut with BIGBANG in 2006 and released a slew of hit songs such as “LIES,” “HARU HARU,” “FANTASTIC BABY,” “LOSER,” and “BANG BANG BANG.” He also showed off his talent and skills as a solo artist with songs like “HEARTBREAKER,” “CRAYON,” and “CROOKED,” and released music as a member of a BIGBANG sub-unit with T.O.P.
