In the midst of The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful – a spin-off of the 2014 action film The Divine Move – enjoying its moment at the top of the box office, the film has already surpassed one million moviegoers in just four days after its release.
According to the Korea Box-Office Information System (KOBIS), The Divine Move 2 passed the milestone on the afternoon of November 10. The film is progressing at the same speed as its predecessor, The Divine Move, and the 2017 film The Outlaws, which became the biggest box-office hit for a film in the crime-action genre by drawing 6.88 million moviegoers. The Divine Move 2 also tied the record set by the biggest crime-action film of the first half of 2019, The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, and the most successful film of the same genre to be released in November, The Swindlers (2017).
As a show of thanks to the one million people who have seen the movie, the cast of The Divine Move 2 got together to take photos in celebration of the occasion. Kwang Sang Woo, who played the character of Gwi Soo, made a number one by doing a handstand just like he did in the film, while Kim Hee Won, Kim Sung Kyun, Heo Sung Tae, Woo Do Hwan, Won Hyun Joon, and director Khan Lee made zeroes with their arms to create the number 1,000,000.
The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful is about a man named Gwi Soo who loses everything through the strategy board game Go, and ends up all on his own. The movie follows Gwi Soo as he puts everything on the line for a match in the heartless world of high-stakes Go.
