Fans are in shock over reports that K-pop singer Goo Hara – formerly of the girl group KARA – was found dead at her home on the 24th.
According to the police, Goo Hara was found around 6 p.m. on Sunday at her residence in the Cheongdam neighborhood of Gangnam, Seoul. Police are currently investigating the cause of death.
Goo made her debut into the world of entertainment as a member of KARA in 2008. During her years with KARA, the group released a slew of hit songs such as “Mister,” “Lupin,” “STEP,” “Pretty Girl,” and “Honey.” After the group disbanded, Goo expanded her career into acting and working as a solo artist. The late singer and actress had a particularly large fan base in Japan, and had recently signed a contract with Japanese management agency Production Ogi, through which she had released a solo album titled Midnight Queen.
This month, Goo had met with her fans through the “HARA ZEPP TOUR,” which kicked off in Fukuoka on the 14th, and then moved on to Osaka on the 15th, Aichi on the 17th, and Tokyo on the 19th. Fans who had recently seen Goo looking happy on the tour are particularly in shock over the tragic news.
Since the news broke, fans have been flocking to Goo’s Instagram to leave comments such as, “I pray that the reports are false” and “Please be alive.” Her most recent post shows a picture of Goo with a peaceful expression, along with the words “Good night” under the picture, making the news all the more heartbreaking for fans.
