K-pop girl group ITZY has officially won a total of 6 best new artist awards.
ITZY made their presence known at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2019 MAMA), which were held on December 4.
The group took the stage, which was decked out like a classroom, and performed “DALLA DALLA” and “ICY” while wearing school uniform-inspired outfits. The five members captivated the audience with their bouncy and energetic charm, which made them look like characters from a teen movie.
The way that the girls danced perfectly in sync and commanded the stage like seasoned pros confirmed why they are the best new K-pop artists of the year.
As expected, ITZY was honored with the Best New Female Artist award at the 2019 MAMA.
“We received a lot of love and interest this year. Next year, ITZY will work even harder. Please keep an eye on us in the future,” said group leader Yeji.
“We’re not perfect, but thank you for all the love and support that you guys gave us. I don’t know how to repay it all back, but we’ll try our best to repay the love that you gave us through next year,” said Lia who spoke to the audience in English.
ITZY won their first best new artist award within 171 days of their debut, at the 2019 M2 X GENIE MUSIC AWARDS, and they have been sweeping the same category at the year-end music award ceremonies. The group has been recognized as 2019’s best new artists by the 2019 Soribada Best K-Music Awards, 2019 VLive Awards V Heartbeat, and the 2019 Asia Artist Awards in Vietnam.
At the 2019 Melon Music Awards, everyone’s eyes were glued to ITZY as they performed on stage in glittering gold outfits, and the group’s fans were doubly excited as their favorite idols were honored with the best new (female) artist award.
All eyes are on ITZY now to see what the future holds for the group who has taken home 6 best new artist awards by captivating the public with their fantastic performances and infinite charms.
