‘Ashfall’ Starring Lee Byung Hun and Ha Jung Woo Beats Out Other New and Upcoming Releases to Top Ticket Sales
According to the Korea Box-Office Information System (KOBIS), Ashfall – starring Lee Byung Hun, Ha Jung Woo, Ma Dong Seok, Jeon Hye Jin, and Bae Suzy – is currently ranked No. 1 in ticket sales, three days out from its release date.
Ashfall tells a story about a group of people who are tasked to prevent the last explosion from a volcano on Baekdu Mountain, which threatens to cause a disaster of unprecedented proportions that will engulf the Korean Peninsula. According to numbers published by KOBIS at 8:30 a.m. on December 16, the film captured 26.8 percent of the ticket sales, putting it at No. 1 in ticket sales rankings. Ashfall beat out competitors such as Frozen 2 – the most successful animated film to ever be released in Korea – and other new and upcoming releases.
Ashfall is anticipated to deliver a fresh and entertaining experience to audiences by using unpredictable story development methods and stunning visuals to tell a bold story about a volcano on Baekdu Mountain that explodes after lying dormant for 1,000 years. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats with their eyes glued to the screen as they watch the characters develop while fighting for their lives after being gripped by a sudden disaster.
Ashfall will be out in theaters on December 19.
