Actor Song Kang has been cast for the leading role of the new original Netflix series, Sweet Home.
Based on the popular webtoon thriller of the same name, Netflix’s Sweet Home is about the bizarre and shocking incidents that happen to a socially withdrawn high school student named Hyun Soo when he moves to a new apartment after losing his family. With Lee Eung Bok (Mr. Sunshine, Descendants of the Sun, Goblin) reportedly being at the directing helm of the new series, Sweet Home is already causing a buzz.
Song Kang will be taking on the role of leading character Cha Hyun Soo, who decides to come back out into the world in order to save people after keeping himself isolated for some time. After already having made a name for himself as an actor who looks like he just jumped off the pages of a comic book while starring in another webtoon-based series, Love Alarm, many are interested to see what new and different side of himself Song Kang will reveal through his newest project.
Unlike the heartthrob image he portrayed in his previous works, in Sweet Home, Song Kang is expected to show the inner workings of his character as he comes face to face with his limitations when faced with tragic circumstances. The actor will also undoubtedly have to perform daredevil action sequences as he gets into tussles with monsters. Fans are excited to see what intense acting transformation the actor will undergo.
After making his debut in 2017 with the drama The Liar and His Lover, Song Kang became a familiar face on television by starring in Man in the Kitchen and Beautiful Vampire. In 2019, he further showed off his potential to become one of the top 20-something actors through his roles on Love Alarm and When the Devil Calls Your Name.
With Netflix original series Love Alarm being confirmed for a second season thanks to the love shown by fans from all over the world, as well as his casting on Sweet Home, his first project with esteemed director Lee Eung Bok, a great deal of interest is surrounding Song Kang and what 2020 will have in store for him as a leading actor.
