BTS dominated the 34th Golden Disc Awards by sweeping both of the grand prizes – the Album Daesang and Digital Song Daesang.

Held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the evening of January 5, the second day of the ceremony featured awards for physical album releases. Lee Seung Gi and Park So Dam hosted the event, which was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4. BTS was honored with a total of four awards on day two, which included the NetEase Music Fan’s Choice K-Pop Star Award, TikTok Golden Disc Popularity Award, Album Bonsang (main prize), and the Album Daesang.

“We’re able to do music like this because of the support of each and every one of our fans. Thank you for always loving us,” said BTS while accepting an award.

“Every time we win an award, we think of ARMY (BTS fanclub). We’ll do our best to show only good sides of ourselves to ARMY. We will sing and dance for our fans,” the group promised.

“I remember the day when I got a buzz cut and met with producer Bang Si Hyuk in Sinsa-dong, Seoul 10 years ago. I’ve worked hard as a member of BTS for 10 years. I hope I can fill up 2020 along with ARMY,” said RM while giving the acceptance speech on behalf of BTS for the Album Daesang.

RM also put the spotlight on the recent industry controversy surrounding the issue of chart manipulation. “We’ve gotten to where we are thanks to the love and help of many people. There are artists out there who work incredibly hard to make music. In 2020, I hope a lot of people listen to their music so that these artists’ songs get a fair shot and aren’t wasted. I hope that the problems of 2019 stay in the past, and that 2020 can become a new year,” he emphasized. He also expressed his deep affection for his fans by shouting, “ARMY, I love you so much!”

TWICE and NU’EST each took home two awards – the Album Bonsang and Cosmopolitan Artist Award.

“It’s the fifth day since the year has started. Thank you for inviting us to both days of the 2020 Golden Disc Awards and giving us an award. We’re grateful for the staff members who always help us, and we’re happy that we can be with ONCE,” said TWICE. “We’d like to dedicate this award to Mina, who isn’t able to be with us on stage,” the group added.

“It’s an honor to receive our first Bonsang at the Golden Disc Awards. We’d like to thank L.O.Λ.E (fanclub) for making this happen. We’re also thankful for the staff members who work so hard for us,” said NU’EST.

“We’ll work hard so that we don’t change in the future. Also L.O.Λ.E! We think you can take pride in listening to the music that we’ve made,” added NU’EST.
