BTS has swept iTunes charts globally with their pre-released track, “Black Swan.”
After being unveiled to the world on January 17, “Black Swan” took over the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts on the following day in 93 countries and regions, including the US, Canada, UK, Russia, France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and India.
The group got the attention of their fans from all over the world by announcing they would be dropping the first single off their 4th studio album, MAP OF THE SOUL: 7, and a corresponding art film for the song. The single that was finally unveiled, “Black Swan,” has a dreamy vibe and is described as being an “emo hip-hop track that brings together a touch of Cloud rap, trap drum beats, doleful lo-fi guitar sounds, and a catchy hook.”
“Black Swan” captures the confession of an artist. The honesty with which the members sing about coming face-to-face with the shadows they have kept hidden deep inside as artists resonates deeply.
Along with the reveal of the single, BTS also released an art film of “Black Swan” performed by the Slovenian modern dance troupe MN Dance Company. The hauntingly beautiful choreography in the art film has garnered attention worldwide, and was also a trending topic on Twitter.
BTS will be performing “Black Swan” live for the first time on CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden on January 28.
