Kang Daniel Wins the Top Prize at the Global TOP TEN Awards for Second Year in a Row Despite Not Promoting
Singer Kang Daniel has been honored with the Global Artist Award, the top prize of the TEN Asia K-Pop Global TOP TEN Awards. By receiving the most votes for the second year in a row, the idol singer has firmly established himself as Asia’s most popular star.
The TEN Asia K-Pop Global TOP TEN Awards is an event in which K-pop fans from 10 Asian countries (Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, The Philippines, and Malaysia) submit online and mobile votes for their favorite idols. The most popular K-pop stars from each country were chosen during the preliminary voting round, which was held from January 28 to February 10. The two-week-long finals commenced on February 12 for K-pop fans to choose the most popular idol star of all. A total of 2,163,764 votes were submitted during the two rounds.
Global Artist Award winner Kang Daniel came out on top by receiving a total of 694,439 votes during the final round. His votes accounted for 47.71% of all votes, which put an enormous gap between himself and the second-place winner. Daniel’s share of the votes this year represents a 3% increase from last year. Despite the fact that he halted all promotional activities in December 2019, he came out as the winner once again to solidify his position as a top star.
Kang Daniel also became the first artist in the history of the awards to come in first place in three countries during the preliminaries by getting the most votes from fans in Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore. He demonstrated his influence during the final round as the gap between himself and the artist in second place became wider than it had been during the midway count.
