The movie Double Patty, starring Red Velvet member Irene and Shin Seung Ho, opened production on August 4.
Double Patty is a coming-of-age film about young people with hopes and dreams. Irene, who has been winning praise for the variety of activities she has been involved in, in addition to her work as a member of Red Velvet, has been cast for the role of aspiring news anchor, Lee Hyun Ji. This will be the silver-screen debut for Irene, who took her first stab at acting in 2016 with the web drama, Women at a Game Company.
Shin Seung Ho, who has left a lasting impression on viewers by playing a variety of characters in the drama At Eighteen, seasons one and two of A-TEEN, and the Netflix original series, Love Alarm, will be playing the role of a former high school wrestling champion named Kang Woo Ram. High caliber actors including Jung Jin Young, Jeong Young Ju, and Cho Dal Hwan will also be joining the movie’s cast.
The unveiled production still from the film shows Irene and Shin Seung Ho in character. The image of Irene as aspiring anchor Lee Hyun Ji, struggling to make her dreams come true, as well as that of Shin Seung Ho, who has transformed himself to play former high school wrestler Kang Woo Ram, have piqued everyone’s curiosities.
“Since this is our first day of filming, I’m feeling very excited and nervous. I will give my all to the filming of the movie,” expressed Irene while preparing to begin shooting. Shin Seung Ho, who voiced his determination ahead of filming, said, “It’s an honor to be able to work with great actors and crew members. I’ll do my best to give a good performance.” Double Patty is expected to be a film that entertains and resonates with today’s youth.
Double Patty is scheduled to hit theaters in late 2020.
