Actress Kang So Ra’s recent surprise wedding announcement has piqued everyone’s curiosity as to the identity of the groom-to-be.
Kang So Ra posted a handwritten note on the 17th to her fan cafe, which read: “I’ve been really worried and nervous about how I should announce this, but because I wanted everyone to hear it from me first directly, I’m summoning up the courage to write this letter.”
“I, Kang So Ra, who you have considered as a friend and sister, will be getting married at the end of August. I’m announcing this good news through this letter because I’ve met a great person who I want to spend the rest of my life with,” she continued.
Kang also talked about her plans to continue working as an actress after getting married. “I’ll work hard to repay all of you, who have believed in and supported me, through a happy marriage and by continuing to show you different sides of myself as an actress. I sincerely hope that you stay healthy during these times which are trying for everyone,” she wrote.
Kang So Ra’s management agency, Plum A&C, introduced the actress’s fiancé as a “non-celebrity who’s older than Kang So Ra.”
The agency went on to say that “although the wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place on August 29, it was canceled due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The couple will instead be joined by immediate family in a modest celebration.”
They added, “In consideration of the groom, who is a non-celebrity, and the bride and groom’s families, other details will be kept private.”
The agency did, however, draw the line at speculations of the wedding being a shotgun wedding.
Kang So Ra, who made her debut in 2009 with the movie, 4th Period Mystery, shot to fame after being selected to play the lead role in the 2011 film, Sunny.
Kang then went to star in TV series such as tvN’s Misaeng: The Incomplete, MBC’s Warm and Cozy, and KBS 2TV’s My Lawyer, Mr. Jo, and movies such as Race to Freedom: Um Bok Dong and Secret Zoo.
