K-pop group BTS has set a new record with their newest single, “Dynamite.”
According to the charts published by music streaming giant Spotify on August 22, BTS topped the Global Top 50 chart for August 21 with “Dynamite,” which was released on the same day.
BTS is the first South Korean musical act to hit No. 1 on the Global Top 50. The group previously peaked at No. 3 on the chart with “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)” in April 2019.
“Dynamite” racked up a total of 7,778,950 streams on the first day of its release, making it the most streamed song globally on Spotify for 2020
The group also broke their own records on Spotify in countries and regions such as the US and the UK, by landing at Nos. 3 and 15, respectively. By topping the charts in 14 regions with “Dynamite,” BTS further solidified their status as global artists.
As a disco pop track with a refreshing melody, “Dynamite” sends a message of hope to everyone who is facing tough times due to COVID-19. The song depicts how special and precious life is with its lyrics about happiness and confidence.
Up next for BTS is the release of the EDM and acoustic versions of “Dynamite,” which are scheduled to drop at 1 p.m. on August 24 (Korean time).
