American singer and songwriter Khalid has become the talk of the internet among K-pop fans for his continued show of love for BTS member Jimin.
On October 7, Argentinian radio station Radio FM 103.7 drew an explosive response from K-pop fans by asking on Twitter, “[Khalid] says he’s a fan of Jimin of BTS. Would you like a collaboration between them?”
In response, US-based K-pop media outlet, allkpop, published an article titled, “Netizens hope for BTS’s Jimin collaboration with Khalid.”
Khalid, who was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2019, is a globally recognized artist who won three American Music Awards in 2019 and three Billboard Music Awards in 2020, which included the award for Top R&B Male Artist.
Khalid has been voicing his appreciation and interest in Jimin for the past couple of years. In 2018, he posted an image that showed him streaming Jimin’s solo track, “Serendipity,” along with a tweet that said, “I can’t stop playing this. Sooooo good.”
After seeing Khalid’s tweet, Jimin expressed his gratitude and tweeted back “Thank you” via the official BTS Twitter account.
Khalid also attended BTS’s LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF concert at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles in 2019, where he posted a video of Jimin performing “Serendipity” live to his Instagram Stories, along with the words, “THIS MY SHIT.”
In the same year, Khalid was seen interacting with Jimin at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards when he approached the K-pop idol to say hello.
Khalid showed his appreciation for Jimin yet again this year, when he posted a clip of him listening to “Serendipity” in his car.
With Khalid continuing to express his fondness for Jimin, the anticipation for a possible collaboration between the two superstars is growing.
