It looks like NCT will finally be getting a little-brother group after five years.

“We will be holding global auditions (“2021 SM NEW BOY GROUP AUDITION”) for a new boy group,” SM Entertainment announced on the 16th.

SM Entertainment has churned out many successful male idol groups over the years, including TVXQ, Super Junior, SHINee, EXO, and NCT. News of a new SM boy group has garnered the attention of K-pop fans everywhere, as this will be the first boy group formed by the label in five years since the debut of NCT in 2016.

The auditions are scheduled to take place from January 16 to March 31, and all male hopefuls born between 2002 and 2008 are welcome to apply.

In order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and keep participants safe, auditions will be held online until February 15.

Applicants are encouraged to present any skills that would show their potential as a musical artist, including singing, dancing, or any other personal talents. As successful candidates will be given a chance to debut as a member of a new SM group, the audition is expected to draw a large number of enthusiastic participants.

Additional information about the audition process can be found on SM’s official website and social media accounts.
