KBS’ new Wednesday and Thursday primetime series “Gaksital” drew in its first win after beating out its competitors during the final week of May.
Data compiled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) revealed that “Gaksital,” starring Joo Won and Jin Se-yeon, attracted 12.6 percent of the total audience on its first episode while the score slipped by 0.2 percentage points the following day.
Adapted from 1974 comic book of the same name by Huh Young-man, “Gaksital” portrays the story of Koreans during the Japanese colonial period in the 1930s.
Coming in second place on TNmS’ chart was So Ji-sub and Lee Yeon-hee’s starrer “Phantom” on SBS, which earned ratings of 10.7 and 12.1 percent each day during the same period.
MBC’s romantic comedy “I Do I Do,” featuring Kim Suna and Lee Jang-woo, opened flat during its premiere with ratings in the eight percentile range.
Meanwhile, results by AGB Nielson Media Research showed that “Gaksital” was the top-rated show on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime lineup with 12.7 and 12.4 percent of the viewers tuning in on May 30 and 31, respectively.
Switching positions on AGB’s poll was “I Do I Do” coming in second place with ratings of 10.5 and 9.8 percent on Wednesday and Thursday night, while “Phantom” ranked at the third with its numbers in the nine percentile range.
