Korean actress Park Shin-hye will make her comeback to the silver screen with a new comedy film, according to her agency 4HIM Entertainment.

On Friday, 4HIM said that Park will play a law student, who is the daughter of a mentally disabled man (played by actor Ryoo Seung-ryoo), in “December 23,” set to crank in later this year.

“I teared up while I was reading the scenario for the first time and I was just blown away by how the story exudes sincerity, laughter and sadness altogether. I hope to show a different side of myself as an actress through it,” Park was quoted as saying.

Director Lee Hwang-kyun of “Lump of Sugar” and “Champ” will helm the movie, which will also star top Korean actors Jung Jin-young, Oh Dal-soo and Kim Jung-tae.

Before selecting this production, Park has been busy with her activities overseas such as her fan meeting in Japan and is awaiting for “Heartstrings” to be aired in the country.

Park first gained fame in Korea after appearing in the hit TV series “Stairway to Heaven” (SBS, 2003) starring Kwon Sang-woo and Choi Ji-woo.

Her filmography also includes movies “The Evil Twin” (2007), “Cyrano Agency” (2010) and animation “Green Days,” in which she has lent her voice to a female character.
