beasts-lee-gi-kwang-says-great-thing-about-voice-dubbing-is-hiding-behind-screen
K-pop idol group BEAST’s Lee Gi-kwang said the most attractive thing about doing a voice-over for an animated film is hiding behind the screen.

Known for his powerful dance moves and handsome looks, Lee made an unusual remark as an idol star at “Sammy’s Adventures 2” press conference held in Seoul on July 26.

“While dubbing Ricky’s voice, I tried to read my lines and scream by exaggerating my voice. Then, I realized the great thing about voice-dubbing is that you can’t see my face,” Lee said with a grin.

He then explained about his comment by saying that it was less nervous and convenient for him to act outside the camera.

“Although it has already been three years since I made my debut in 2009, it’s still awkward hearing my own voice in BEAST songs. Likewise, watching the cartoon I dubbed in for the first time made me shy.”

When asked what his fellow members thought about him getting the job first among the members, Lee laughed and said they gave him the nickname “Ricky Kwang.”

“Sammy’s Adventure 2” goes around the story of young sea turtles Ricky (voiced by Lee Gi-kwang) and Ella (voiced by IU). The two characters go on a journey to save their grandparents Sammy and Ray, captivated in an aquarium in Dubai. Sammy and Ray are the main characters in the first installment of the animated pic, “Sammy’s Adventure : The Secret Passage.”

The upcoming cartoon, also voiced by comedian Kim Won-hyo, will hit local theaters on August 2.
