TV anchor Choi Il-gu has resigned from MBC, one of Korea`s major broadcasters.
MBC accepted Choi’s resignation on February 9. The resignation had been handed in on the previous day, MBC labor union confirmed.
The former main anchor of “MBC Newsdesk” stepped down from his position as deputy manager to join the union’s strike February last year.
After being suspended for three months for that, Choi was unable to make his way back to his former position at “Newsdesk” but instead had to fulfill a series of education courses ordered by the MBC head office until April.
Choi, 52, has been a household name after becoming the weekend anchor of “MBC Newsdesk” in 2003. He came into the limelight once again in 2010 when he came back to the news show with his own distinctive comments and unique style of delivering news.
