Kwone’s "Chinese Zodiac" Breaks Record in China

Chinese actioner “Chinese Zodiac” starring Korean actor Kwone Sang-woo has set a new record in the first few days since its release.

The film, released on December 20 in China, recorded sales figures of 150 million Chinese Yuan (25.8 billion Korean won).

On the day of release alone, it scored sales figures of 43.5 million Yuan, making it the most profitable film ever to be released in the year-end period in China.

The film was directed by Jackie Chan and he also stars in it along with Kwone.

As well as its Chinese release, the film was released simultaneously in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and admissions scores there were also excellent according to the film’s producers.

The success of “Chinese Zodiac” seems to be partly due to the huge popularity the two actors enjoy in China and the South East Asian region.

The Korean release date for “Chinese Zodiac” has been set for February 2013.
