Singer-actor Kang Seung-yoon will give his debut performance on SBS’s music program “Inkigayo” next month, his agency said on Tuesday.
YG Entertainment said through a press release that Kang will release his first title single “WILD AND YOUNG” on July 31 and make his first television appearance on August 4.
The agency added that K-pop boy band Big Band member G-Dragon wrote the lyrics for the tune.
The song was originally composed and written by YG’s main producer Teddy two years ago but was not used because it could not find a suitable owner, the agency explained. But Kang was given the song after trying out singing just the first line because it was a perfect fit for his voice.
The release of “WILD AND YOUNG” will be followed by two more singles, each set to be dropped in August and September.
Meanwhile, YG announced through a separate press release that K-pop girl group 2NE1’s “Falling In Love” has been chosen as “Song of the Summer” by U.S. television channel MTV IGGY.
The girls were previously selected as “Best New Band in the World” last year on the same channel. MTV IGGY is a division of Viacom Media Networks that aims to bring global music and pop culture to the U.S.
