Top Korean actors Jang Dong-gun and Kim Min-hee will bring a dangerous love story onto the big screen through a new film noir.
Jang and Kim have been cast in the pic tentatively titled “Crying Man,” set to crank in next month, an official with Kim’s agency Soop Entertainment told TenAsia over the phone Wednesday.
Helmed by director Lee Jung-bum of Won Bin’s “The Man from Nowhere,” the noir pic centers on a melodramatic love story between veteran killer Gon (Jang) and his new target Mo-gyeong (Kim).
Actress Lim Soo-jung of TV hit “I’m Sorry, I Love You” was eyeing Kim’s role but she recently decided to step down from the casting boat with the agreement pending.
The upcoming film will mark Jang’s return to the Korean film scene after two years since war blockbuster and box office disaster “My Way.”
Kim has been successful in her filmography, and most recently with romance pic “Very Ordinary Couple,” which brought her the first best leading actress award at the 49th Paeksang Arts Awards this year.
