Actress Kim So-yeon will depict candid romance stories and work life of women of the same period early next year.
Kim, a smart and warmhearted prosecutor in MBC’s “Two Weeks,” has been confirmed to take the lead actress of tvN’s third season of successful romcom series “In Need of Romance,” set to hit air next mid-January.
Kim will take on the main character named Sin Joo-yeon, a 33-year-old fashion MD at a home shopping company, who has innocent and warm nature but becomes sharp and realistic after nine years’ life at work.
The upcoming third season of the romantic comedy series will move its background to a home shopping company and deal with Korean alpha girls’ livelihood and fierce competition, friendship and love life at work.
“As soon as receiving the script, I read through the book with joy. I am agonizing to portrait my character with perfection,” Kim was quoted as saying.
Actors Sung Joon, Namgoong Min and Yoon Seung-ah are also positively eyeing in the cable drama series, but their appearances have not been settled yet.
Kim, 32, started her career in 1987 as child actress and grabbed attention with her role in SBS hit sitcom “Soonpoong Clinic” in 1999. She shot to stardom the next year with her evil woman role in MBC TV series “All About Eve,” co-starring Jang Dong-gun and Chae Rim.
Her recent TV works include KBS blockbuster “IRIS,” SBS “Princess Prosecutor,” SBS sports drama “Dr. Champ,” SBS thriller “Athena,” SBS historic drama “The Great Seer” and MBC’s “Two Weeks.”
Launched in June of 2011, “In Need of Romance” has portrayed work, love and friendship of three women in their thirties. The first season was starred by Cho Yeo-jung and Choi Jin-hyuk.
The realistic stories and delicate emotional portrait has grabbed great response from viewers, keeping the popularity with the second season last year, starring Jung Yoo-mi and Lee Jin-wook.
