New SBS series “Love From Star” has made a winning debut on TV charts, while MBC also debuted its new Wednesday and Thursday drama “Miss Korea” on No. 2.
The time-travelling romcom sat atop the AGB Nielsen Media Research (Nielsen Korea) chart after drawing in an average of 17.0 percent of total viewers on December 18 and 19, the chart showed on Friday.
Starring Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun, the hot couple who reunited after box office smash “The Thieves,” the fiction romance drama centers on Do Min-jun (Kim), a man from outer space who has lived on Earth since four hundred years ago and Chun, a top celebrity called as “Goddess of Hallyu.”
Making debut on the runner-up place is MBC’s new drama series “Miss Korea,” which attracted an average mark of 7.2 percent in its debuting week.
“Miss Korea,” starring Lee Sun-kyun, Lee Sung-min and Lee Yeon-hee, centers around middle-aged men who struggle to make an ordinary girl to be Korea’s beauty pageant, Miss Korea.
At the bottom of the chart was KBS’s series “Bel Ami,” which struggled at the position for fourth week in a row with average 3.5 percent of viewers in the same time frame.
Meanwhile, TNmS’ (Total National Multimedia Statistic) survey showed the three programs in the same order yet slightly lower figures from Nielsen Korea’s.
While “Love From Star” made an winning debut with an average rating of 15.7 percent, “Miss Korea” and “Bel Ami” followed next two spots, each with average scores of 7.4 and 2.9, respectively.
