K-pop girl group KARA member Nicole is leaving the group.
DSP Media said through a press release on Tuesday that Nicole will leave KARA as her contract with the agency expires on Thursday.
Other members are currently eyeing new dramas and films, the agency added. The girls will focus on individual activities in the first half of this year, followed by a new album release later on.
KARA members Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara are the only members who have renewed their management deal for two more years with the agency last October, while Jiyoung, the youngest member of the group, is still taking her time thinking over her future and career since her management deal is set to expire in April.
KARA, debuted in March of 2007, is considered as one of the most successful Korean girl groups that have successfully broken into the Japanese music market. The group released a slew of hit songs including “Pretty Girl,” “Lupin,” “Jumping,” “Pandora” and “Damaged Lady.”
