Korean actress Shin Se-gyeong will be appointed as the special PR ambassador for Korean Nation Commission of UNESCO.
The appointment ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Shin’s agency Namoo Actors said through a press release on Tuesday. This will be the first time for an actor to take the position.
Shin was quoted in a statement as saying, “I can closely relate with UNESCO as it embraces peace at our hearts. The position is burdensome but I will do the best that I can. I have a great interest in the crusade against illiteracy because I very much enjoy reading and I want to share that joy with everybody.”
Meanwhile, the actress, who made a debut in 1998, has recently received an excellence award at the 2013 MBC Drama Awards for her lead role in miniseries “When a Man Falls in Love” last month.
Shin has also been cast in the second installation of film “Tazza: The High Roller,” alongside Big Bang’s T.O.P. The film shoot started in Seoul on January 2, aiming to open in theaters later this year.
