K-pop idols SHINee’s third Japanese single has ranked in second place on Oricon’s weekly music chart, according to a press release from their agency SM Entertainment.

SM announced on Tuesday that SHINee’s latest Japanese release “LUCIFER,” which went on sale in the country on October 12, took the No. 2 spot on Oricon’s weekly singles chart, making it their third single to place within the top three of its weekly music chart consecutively.

“This is the first time in 44 years of Oricon’s history for a foreign artist including solo singers to have their singles place amongst the top three on the weekly chart consecutively,” a report on Oricon’s official website said.

SHINee’s debut single “Replay – 君は僕の everything” (translated into “Reply – You are my everything”) had come in second place on Oricon’s daily and weekly chart in June of last year as well as making them the first K-pop artist to claim gold with their debut single.

The boys then saw their second Japanese single “Juliette” rank first on Oricon’s daily chart upon its release in mid-August.

Composed of members Key, Minho, Jonghyun, Onew and Taemin, SHINee is one of Korea’s most popular male groups who made their debut in 2008 under major talenthouse SM Entertainment.

The group are preparing for their concerts in Japan starting in Nagoya on October 27 followed by shows in Osaka on November 24 and 25. They will also release their first full-length Japanese album on November 23.
