Girl group T-ara member Jiyeon will be one of the female lead characters to the new season of TV series “Dream High.”

Jiyeon met with the director of the show over the weekend for final talks on her role after which she decided to take on “Dream High 2,” a press release by her agency Core Contents Media said on Monday.

Hence, she will be one of the several main characters to the upcoming show which in its first season early this year, was played by Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun, idol singers Bae Suzy from girl group miss A, Ham Eun-jung of T-ara, songstress IU, and Ok Taecyeon and Jang Wooyoung from boy band 2PM.

Jiyeon was quoted as saying that she took on the role because she wanted to play a student who works hard to put on great performances on stage by reminiscing on the times that she herself was a trainee.

The second season to “Dream High,” which during its original run told about students who attend a performing arts school aimed at cultivating celebrities, is aiming for a premiere on January 30 of next year.

Jiyeon, 18, is one of the members to her popular seven-member girl group which debuted in 2009 and is currently promoting their new album “Cry Cry.”

“Dream High 2” will not be her first try at acting — she has appeared in a couple films and dramas since last year.
